If you’ve ever wanted to start scuba diving I would recommend doing it at PIDS on Koh Phangan in Thailand. The first day is spent mostly in the classroom where you are learning about how pressure affects you, how to equalize your air spaces and scuba equipment. At this location they practice in the pool where you practice hand signals, using your BCD (buoyancy control device).

From here there are two routes people typicaly take:

The Discover Scuba Diving program includes orientation, pool or confined water practice and 1 or 2 dives to a maximum depth of 12 meters under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional.

Get a feel for how easy it is to move around underwater while wearing scuba:

  • Brief theory of SCUBA
  • 1 or 2 guided boat dives in the beautiful Gulf of Thailand
  • Full scuba gear, training materials
  • Time and supervision of a PADI Instructor
  • Minimum age 10 years.

equipment and learn basic skills and safety rules that will carry over to your full scuba certification course.

The PADI Open Water Course is the world’s most widely recognized diving certification. Koh Phangan is the ideal place to learn to dive, as our amazing reefs offer you the chance to master skills in a beautiful and stress free environment. The PADI Open Water Diver course gives you a lifetime certification that will take you on adventures around the island, and around the world for as long as you can imagine, and with our highly trained staff, comfortable dive boat, and included accommodations, becoming a diver has never been easier.
