Santorini Wines is the main winery on the beautiful island of Santorini. Acclaimed for their selection of wines and wonderful views. If you are planning on visiting the island I highly recommend stopping here for a romantic flight of wine and cheese along with breathtaking cliffside views of the Caldera.

“The facilities of Santo, include SANTOWINES WINERY, which is one of the most modern winery not only in Santorini but throughout Greece, the one and only in Santorini, TOMATO PROCESS FACTORY «SANTO», and SANTOWINES WINE TOURISM CENTER, the special division of the winery which with its stunning views of the Caldera and great hosting infrastructure has been established among the most important wine tourism destinations in the country with 400,000 visitors annually.

The new winery was completed in 1992 in the village of Pyrgos, in a wonderful location on the caldera. Today, we are proud because in one of the most modern wineries in Greece technological perfection harmonizes wonderfully with the landscape uniqueness of our island. Its innovative architecture is remarkable, as it is built on different levels, just as the famous so- called “terraces” of the vineyard, i.e. the different levels that the farmers have developed in the farms, in order to facilitate the cultivation of the land.
During the whole wine making process (from receiving the grapes until bottling) we utilize the physical phenomenon of gravity which replaces the use of pumps for the transfer of the must and wine which upgrades the quality of the wines produced.

Our winery has a capacity of 4,000 tons and is constantly upgraded by investing in new equipment ensuring we always use cutting edge technology in production.

In the cellars of the winery, we reserve the largest collection of wines, white, red and Vinsanto which are ageing in oak barrels.

The cultivation of tomatoes in Santorini started in the late 18th century. Initially its processing was just domestic but later it became industrial, because the unique characteristics and the high quality of the Santorini tomato paste quickly became famous was established in the market. Back in 1925, the dynamics of the crop was so great that there were nine tomato processing factories operating in the island.

In 1952 the Union of Santorini Cooperatives built the tomato processing factory “SANTO” in the area of Monolithos Village, which presently is the only one that operates in the island.

Its beautiful architecture is still preserved after the restoration and renovation that was implemented in 2015, utilizing funding from the European Union. SANTO continues to produce high quality gourmet products from Santorini Tomato PDO and to create innovative new products highlighting all over the world the uniqueness of the local products to consumers who seek authentic flavors.

In the same building, there is a separate division for the process and packaging of Santorini Fava PDO, capers, caper leaves and other products

SantoWines created in 1992 simultaneously with the construction of the modern winery, the Wine Tourism Center, the multiplex site of the winery, which is dedicated to wine, local farm produce, gastronomy and the culture of Santorini island. With stunning views of the Caldera from edge to edge and background the volcano, annually over 400,000 visitors from around the world enjoy a complete wine and gastronomic experience that includes a tour of SantoWines winery, visit to the cellars, viewing of a documentary for the vineyard , the winemaking tradition and Santorini wine, wine tasting and tasting and traditional flavors of the island.”
